: 5. '''<u>Anime that use summary or recap type OP/ED for the majority of OP/ED</u>: If an anime, for the majority of its OP/ED segments, employs summary screenshots or summary video in lieu of a typical repeated OP/ED animation, we add these as C/S eps, but we do NOT create multiple C/S ep minor versions (i.e. Opening 1a, Opening 1b, Ending 1a, Ending 1b, etc) as a result of this.'''

:: 5.1. '''Treat all summary OP/ED videos for the same song as "identical" videos''': All summary OP/ED videos for the same song are treated as "identical" videos. In the case of a split OP/ED video where a portion is summary and the remainder is the "regular OP/ED sequence" for the same song, these are also treated as "identical" videos ("rounding up" assumption). Therefore, we only create C/S eps that are differentiated by changes in OP/ED song. All the "identical" videos are added to the C/S eps based on song; optionally, at the file level a file comment can be added to specify the episode to which that C/S ep video applies.

Applying rule 1.2.2, while the credits only attribute Zzz as the ED song for multiple episodes, external reference [http://anison.info/data/program/13447.html Anison] clearly delineates Zzz, Zzz(Boss Nova Version), and Zzz(Acapella Version), therefore we credit the specific versions.

This is very much what I'd do.
It's maybe not as clean as making it only "credited as OP/ED", but it conveys far better what C-episode are for. It also immediately catches the older stuff and takes care of the auto-titler thing that Soulweaver mentioned.
Plus it's generally pretty clear when something is meant to be an OP/ED: the regular story is interrupted for 1-1.30 minute of unrelated music video, usually with credits. Incidentally, the story not being interrupted also matches
our sense of when it should be an S-episode instead.

{{CollapseBlock|#9: One-Off Summary ED Vs Majority Usage Summary ED|content=
In terms of summary/recap type ED, there are 2 distinct types of occurrences:
# Shows that do it very infrequently, such as the end of an arc, or the end of the entire show ({{anidb|e145266|SAO ep 25}})
# Shows that do it for every single ED ({{anidb|a10727|Ai Tenchi Muyou}}, {{anidb|a266|Detective Conan}})
Applying rule 5.2, example #1 is added as its own C ep.
Applying rule 5 and 5.1, for example #2 we do not differentiate these videos. We only create C eps that are differentiated by changes in OP/ED song.

{{CollapseBlock|#10: Weird Example Of Danganronpa Ep 1 ED -- Consider This Case an Ad-Hoc, Non-Precedent Decision|content=
# Add BD version as C ep., and use the BD date as the C ep date since that's when the BD version video first airs.
# Create an S ep for the black screen credit role, with air date of ep 1 air date. Call it "Episode 1 TV Ending" or something. Ordinarily as a black screen ED, it would fail rule 3 blocking it from C ep, so it can only be an S ep.

'''Soulweaver wrote:''' There's also another stupid case I forgot, the {{anidb|e154738|first episode ending}} of {{anidb|a9555|Danganronpa}}. The TV version had a black screen with a credits roll, the BD version had a proper ending animation – so far so good, only add a C ep for the latter. However, they also bundled the credited original ep 1 staff roll as a bonus feature on the Blu-rays for whatever reason; the unusual decision there was to add the files of that mixed in with the BD ED1 files and have them share the same C ep (with also ep 1's air date, it seems). I don't know if this was actually that good of an idea, they should probably be separate, though I don't know if the plain credit roll would be a S ep either.
'''CDB-Man wrote:''' We should make it simple and not create exceptions; just add the S ep for this if it fails the C ep check.

{{eyecatch|Note|C episode guidance:<br>
Do '''NOT''' add a separate episode for creditless openings/endings. Set the creditless flag in the video track of the '''file''' instead. We don't want creditless and non-creditless as separate episode entries.<br>
The '''ONLY VALID''' naming template is Opening (1,2,...,n), Ending (1,2,...,n). In case if the same song is used with a significantly different video or the same video is used with a different song, append letters after the numbers e.g. Opening 1a, Opening 1b. For foreign OP/ED episodes, if they differ from the original Japanese versions, append the country name before Opening (1,2,...,n), Ending (1,2,...,n).<br>
PVs (music video for the song) go under Other episodes, but only if they were released as part of the anime DVD/BD.<br>
"Long/full" versions of the OP or ED should be added under Special episode unless they were actually used within a regular episode.<br>
If the OP/ED song is played and credits are shown, but the video is still that of the regular episode, then it's NOT an OP/ED episode (rather common in last episodes as sort of an epilogue).<br>
OP/ED episode's display name will be automatically changed to the song played in that OP/ED if the song has the appropriate OP/ED episode number relation added. It will also automatically display the episode range the OP/ED is played in if the song has those episode ranges added.<br>
OP/ED episodes, like any other episode, should have the air date, which would be the air date of the episode they were first played in.}}
