Help:Editing page

FYI - You said the Help:Editing article was never in use, but actually that page is linked to every time anyone goes to edit a page. Try editing a page and you can see the "Editing help" link at the bottom of the page goes to that article. -- HiEv 17:06, 10 January 2008 (CET)

yes. i noticed that a while after my statement. -- Ninjamask 02:48, 11 January 2008 (CET)

√ Old anidb.info entries - a list

I found the rest of the anidb.info links. Use the wiki search, and look for "anidb" (*with* the double quotes), list 500 entries, to quickly find the pages.

Suggestions / Ideas

Discussion

The following are only ideas that may have some merit, maybe not.

ProfileLink

IMO, the ProfileLink

is ugly using the generic "[1]" in the template. And it is a bit strange that the "profile image" actually leads to the image's page, instead of directly leading to the profile on the AniDB page. In all it is IMO confusing to actually have 3 links:

  1. link to wiki profile page
  2. link profile image's page on wiki
  3. link to profile on AniDB
[[profile]] ([[Image:Button profile.gif]] [http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=profile])
profile (  [1])

Alas placing the image *in* the AniDB link does not properly work:

[[profile]] ([http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=profile [[Image:Button profile.gif]]])
profile ( )

Maybe replacing the generic "[1]" with text will make things clearer:

[[profile]] ([[Image:Button profile.gif]] [http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=profile on AniDB])
profile (  on AniDB)

Though it's still not elegant that the profile image leads to the image's wiki page.

Text Modules vs. Templates

To me templates are wiki source code that uses variables in some way. These are used as compact aliases. I noted that several of these "templates" are simply text modules (without variables):

Maybe one could add a new category specifically for such variable-free text blocks called e.g. Includes or Text Modules.

Alas I am not quite such sure the inclusion of "non-templates" is actually permitted in the wiki?
