Trivial fields
These fields can be supplied manually when adding, but not creqed. They should be automatically set by avdump and are not possible to change after verification.
Length
How many hours, minutes and seconds the file lasts. Just check in your favourite media player. If you have a file that won't display its length correctly, try to use avdump to determine the length.
Resolution
The actual pixel resolution of the video. Width x Height. It should not be confused with display (playback) resolution.
Aspect Ratio
The playback aspect ratio of the video.
Video Codec
A video codec is software that enables video compression and/or decompression for digital video. eg. h264, Divx, Xvid, wmv9 and others.
Video Bitrate
The average amount of bits per second the codec uses.
FPS
Frames per second. This should be set to 0 if the video is VFR.
Video Flags
- Anamorphic: for an explanation of this, see here.
- Clean video: set this flag if there is nothing hardsubbed by the fansub/DVD-rip group in this file. RAWs are always clean.
- VFR: Variable Frame Rate.
- Wrong Aspect Ratio: If the file was encoded with the wrong viewing aspect ratio, check this box. One way to tell whether this is true is if what should be a circle on the screen isn't completely round, but rather elliptic. Most common example is the native NTSC DVD pixel resolution of 720x480 with no resizing for display (aka not anamorphic), only way this resolution would not be wrong is if there are huge black bars added so the actual content of the anime would be in correct AR.
