Anime Notifications
On every anime-page, on the right next to the picture, you'll find the line:
Anime Notifications may be triggered when new file entries are added to a specific anime from any source. Additional criteria regarding the type and source of file as well as the priority of the notification may be specified.

Enabling these notifications will cause AniDB to send you a message (on the page - no email) every time a new file is added to that anime, so that you won't overlook important additions any more. This is also useful for anime without any file added at all.
Configuring Anime Notifications
Notifications can be enabled, modified, and revoked on the Anime Entry and Anime Calendar pages. Notifications can be modified or revoked on the My Notifies anime page. The means of notification can be configured in the user's Profile.

From the Anime Entry page, click a link on the "Notification Type" or "Notification EP Type" rows to enable a notification with the other options at the defaults. The notification can be revoked by clicking the "disable" link on the "Notification" row, or modified by clicking any other link on the "Notification", "Notification Type", or "Notification EP Type" rows.

From the Anime Calendar page, the "Notification Type" and "Notification EP Type" rows for a given anime function in the same manner as the corresponding rows on the Anime Entry page. However, the "Notification" row has been replaced with two select boxes corresponding to the "Notification Type" criteria and priority selection, which must be specified in that order and then enabled or modified by clicking the "Update" button. If a notification has been enabled, it will be shown with a bell, otherwise a gray silhouette of a bell will be shown.

Group notifications work very similar to anime notifications. Basically the only difference is that they work on a per group basis instead of a per anime basis.
Group Notifications may be triggered when new file entries are added from a specific group to any anime. Additional criteria regarding the type of file as well as the priority of the notification may be specified. Note that group notifications do not appear to have episode type criteria.

If someone adds another file for that anime to ep 1, 3 or 4 you won't be notified. If someone adds a file to ep 2, you will.
Group Notification Types
:*group
This setting also relies on your MyList: You will only be notified of files released by the group if you already have files by that group for the anime.
Example: You have set a group notify for group X. ==Related Profile Settings==
From the Group Entry page,
There are a couple of important settings in your AniDB Profile which affect the notifications you receive.

* File Audio/Sub Language Preference

Additional Notifications
Additional Notifications may be enabled in the user's Profile settings in the Notification Types section of the Notifications tab.

Make sure you check your profile settings.
Means of Notification
About pop-up-blockers
The means of notification can be configured in the user's profile on the Notifications tab.
When using a pop-up-blocker, it may prevent the notification-pop-up from showing up. You'll then nonetheless find a reminder on every page, that informs you of the notification(s).
* Notify by pop-up
* Notifications via RSS/RDF Feeds - RSSRDF
* Notifications via Jabber Instant Messages - Jabber

Profile Notification Settings
There are several settings on the Notifications tab of the user's Profile.

Please configure your pop-up-blocker to at least allow actively requested pop-ups - or better: allow all pop-ups from "http://anidb.net".
* Clear notifies when opening notification history
(If you don't want pop-ups, you can simply disable them in your profile.)
* Notifies only for files in my language (audio and subtitles)

* File Audio/Sub Language Preference
Other notification means
Besides the pop-ups and links on AniDB you can also receive notifications directly.
Notifications can be selectively enabled to notify the user of all new file entries for a given anime or from a given group that meet specified criteria until the notification is revoked. Additional notifications may be enabled on the Notifications tab of the user's Profile. AniDB Clients may offer different notifications and options than detailed herein.

Anime Notifications

Anime Notifications may be triggered when new file entries are added to a specific anime from any source. Additional criteria regarding the type and source of file as well as the priority of the notification may be specified.

Note Duplicate notifications may be generated if both Anime and Group Notifications are enabled and applicable to a given file.

Anime Notification Types

Note When changing the Notification Type, the Notification Episode Type is currently reset to "All".

all (default)

Files for the given anime, regardless of status. If a notification is enabled by specifying only the Notification EP Type, this Notification Type criteria will be enabled by default.

Note This coincides with the group status finished, and does not necessitate group status complete.
