Notifications can be selectively enabled to notify the user of all new file entries for a given anime or from a given group that meet specified criteria until the notification is revoked. Additional notifications may be enabled on the Notifications tab of the user's Profile. AniDB Clients may offer different notifications and options than detailed herein.

Anime Notifications

Anime Notifications may be triggered when new file entries are added to a specific anime from any source. Additional criteria regarding the type and source of file as well as the priority of the notification may be specified.

Note Duplicate notifications may be generated if both Anime and Group Notifications are enabled and applicable to a given file.

Anime Notification Types

all (default)

Files for the given anime, regardless of status. If a notification is enabled by specifying only the Notification EP Type, this Notification Type criteria will be enabled by default.

new

Files for an episode of the given anime that is not in the user's My List. This criteria is independent of the status of other episodes in the user's My List.

group

Files by a group, whose other file(s) for the given anime have been added to the user's My List. This criteria is independent of the status of other anime in the user's My List.

complete

Files for the final (or last) non-special episode of the given anime. This criteria is independent of the availability of files for other episodes for the given anime.

Note This coincides with the group status finished, and does not necessitate group status complete.

uncensored

Category Hentai only!

Files that are uncensored.

Note This section has been modified for consistency and grammar only. Accuracy of content is unknown.

Anime Notification Episode Types

Note The type of "s special" episodes is unknown. As such, this section has been left largely incomplete.

Files for any episode of the given anime, regardless of episode type. If a notification is enabled by specifying only the Notification Type, this Notification EP Type criteria will be enabled by default.

no special

only special

only s special

normal and s special

Anime Notification Priority

Note This section is entirely speculative based on prior article content and observations.

The means of notification can be selected by the specifying the corresponding priority, after a notification has been enabled.

low

Does not actually notify the user; however, the notification is logged into the user's Notification History.

Note This section has been modified for consistency and grammar only. Accuracy of content is unknown.

medium (default)

Notifies the user tersely in the account submenu and verbosely in the layout hint. The notification is logged into the user's Notification History.

high

Note Effect of this priority is unknown.

Configuring Anime Notifications

Notifications can be enabled, modified, and revoked on the Anime Entry and Anime Calendar pages. Notifications can be modified or revoked on the My Notifies anime page. The means of notification can be configured in the user's Profile.

From the Anime Entry page, click a link on the "Notification Type" or "Notification EP Type" rows to enable a notification with the other options at the defaults. The notification can be revoked by clicking the "disable" link on the "Notification" row, or modified by clicking any other link on the "Notification", "Notification Type", or "Notification EP Type" rows.

From the Anime Calendar page, the "Notification Type" and "Notification EP Type" rows for a given anime function in the same manner as the corresponding rows on the Anime Entry page. However, the "Notification" row has been replaced with two select boxes corresponding to the "Notification Type" criteria and priority selection, which must be specified in that order and then enabled or modified by clicking the "Update" button. If a notification has been enabled, it will be shown with a bell, otherwise a gray silhouette of a bell will be shown.

Note It is unknown whether the "Update" button will similarly update all enabled or modified notifications, or just those specific to the anime listing that contains the "Update" button.

From the My Notifies anime page,

Group Notifications

Note The content in this section is speculative based on prior article content and apparent correlations to Anime Notifications.

Group Notifications may be triggered when new file entries are added from a specific group to any anime. Additional criteria regarding the type of file as well as the priority of the notification may be specified. Note that group notifications do not appear to have episode type criteria.

Note Duplicate notifications may be generated if both Anime and Group Notifications are enabled and applicable to a given file.

Group Notification Types

all

Files from the given group, regardless of anime or episode type.

new

Files from the given group, for an episode of the given anime that is not in the user's My List. This criteria is independent of the status of other episodes in the user's My List.

Note Prior article content seemed to indicate this criteria was not independent of other groups.

group

Files from the given group, whose other file(s) for the corresponding anime have been added to the user's My List.

complete

Files from the given group, for the final (or last) non-special episode of any anime. This criteria is independent of the availability of files for other episodes for the given anime.

Note This coincides with the group status finished, and does not necessitate group status complete.

blacklist

Note Effect unknown. This may preclude the group's files from triggering Anime Notifications...

Group Notification Priority

This is presumed to function in the same manner as the Anime Notification Priority.
