AniDB Clients are applets or standalone applications which can be used to access the AniDB database directly. One of the key features of AniDB Clients is the automated detection of all anime on your computer. They offer a very simple and fully automated way of adding all your anime to your anime list (MyList) on AniDB and can help you to keep your anime collection organised.

AniDB offers two APIs for client programs. One full, TCP based API which is not public and one limited, UDP based public API. Clients for the full API are somewhat like an off-line version of AniDB. Clients for the limited API are using a much simpler interface and only have access to a limited subset of AniDB.
