'''My wishlist''' is a manual list that allows you to keep track of various states for various anime.

It can be used to:
* mark series '''to get''' (buy, download, whatever you put into that interpretation)
* mark series '''to watch''' for series you want to watch soon
[[Category:Definitions]]
Karasuhebihttps://wiki.anidb.net/index.php?title=Files:Generic_files&diff=17368Files:Generic files2014-01-02T05:23:00Z
Karasuhebi: /* Definition */

{{TOCright}}

==Definition==
Some time ago a feature was added to AniDB which may at first look confusing: Every episode is accompanied by a 0-byte file, marked with an almost white background and without any special attributes like group, source or quality.
These files are called "generic files" and can help you add even those episodes to your MyList that can't (or shouldn't) be represented by a regular file-entry.

==So, what can they be used for?==
You can add ([[Image:Anidb file addmylist.gif]]) such generic files to your MyList just like regular files, but they have a new property, [[Filetype|type]], which also illustrates their use:

[[Filetype:self ripped|self ripped]]/[[Filetype:dvd|DVD]]/[[Filetype:vhs|VHS]]/[[Filetype:tv|TV]]/[[Filetype:theater|theatre]]/[[Filetype:streamed|streamed]]/[[Filetype:other|other]]

If there's any additional info about this episode you want to preserve, just enter it in the comment-field.

==How can I set the type for many generic files at once?==
After you add all the generic files to your MyList like you would do for regular files, go to your MyList and expand it using the + icon until you see the files. There you check all the generics you want to change the type of, then scroll down and select the type from the drop-down menu (you have to scroll down a little until you see 'change generic state to') and select the type you wish to apply for the generic files.
If you only have generic files added for the anime, then you just need to scroll down to the end of the file list for that anime and check the 'select all' checkbox and set the generic state for them.

==How can I easily add several generic files at once?==
By using ''Add anime to MyList'' found under ''Episode list'' on every anime page. Note that it will have a different meaning if the episodes are expanded by group: ''Add '''selected''' to MyList''.

==I don't use generic files. How can I hide them?==
In your {{ProfileLink}}, under "Layout Options" you can choose to "Hide generic files on anime page".

==I have generic and group files for a large anime. How can I remove all generic entries at once?==
You cannot do this directly as there is no filter to select generic entries.

But the selection filter can be tricked as follows:
*expand the entry in your anime list, set the select filter to 'all' and click select
*next change the filter from 'all' to 'group name' and click select again
*this should have only left the generic files selected (you should check), you can now safely use the 'remove' action on them

[[Category:Definitions]]
Karasuhebihttps://wiki.anidb.net/index.php?title=How_to_get_UTF-8_to_work_with_mIRC&diff=17223How to get UTF-8 to work with mIRC2013-06-08T19:26:48Z
Karasuhebi: /* Fonts */

{{TOCright}}

To get UTF-8 working properly with mIRC, you need at least version 6.17 of mIRC, which you can get here: http://www.mirc.com/get.html. Non-windows users are assumed to have been using clients with proper encoding support for years already. If you want a guide for irssi, we have one here: [[Utf8/irssi]].

However, mIRC will not display and encode text in UTF-8 by default, you need to change a couple of settings first. There are two places you need to change the settings in: the "'''mIRC Options'''" dialogue and the "'''Select Font'''" dialogue.

[[Image:Mirc-options-irc-messages.png|thumb|mIRC Options dialogue - IRC - Messages section.]]
== Options ==
To reach the options dialogue, you can press "Alt+O" in any window in mIRC, or you can go to it via either the "View ⇒ Options...", or the "Tools ⇒ Options..." menus.

Once you have reached the options dialogue, you need to go to the '''IRC ⇒ Messages''' section via the category list on the left-hand side of the options dialogue.

=== What needs to be changed ===
In there, you need to make sure that these to options are '''checked''':
*'''UTF-8 display'''
*'''Multibyte editbox'''

And you should make sure that the following options are '''unchecked''':
*'''SJIS/JIS conversion''' - because this is not 7-bit ASCII compatible, and will thus break UTF-8 and every other encoding that might be used.
*'''Multibyte display''' - because this will break bold/underline/reverse/colour codes when used with text encoded in UTF-8.

[[Image:Mirc-font-dialog.png|thumb|mIRC Channel Fonts dialogue]]
== Fonts ==
The fonts dialogue works in a fairly odd way. You can set a specific font for each window you have open, and you can also set a default font to use for every window that does not have a specific font set. You also ''need to set the default font differently'' for '''channels''' and '''private messages''', as well as '''status windows and other windows'''. In order to get to the fonts dialogue for an active window, you can use the "View ⇒ Font..." menu, the "System menu ⇒ Font..." or the /font command. {{small90|(To reach the system menu, you can click on the window-icon that you normally double-click in order to close a window. Or you can use the "Alt+-" hotkey.)}}

=== What needs to be changed ===

Once you've reached the font dialogue, you need to change the following things:
*The "'''UTF-8:'''" section to "'''Display and encode'''".
*If you want to set this as the default setting for windows whose options you have not set (recommended), '''check''' the "'''Set as default channel font'''" setting. {{small90|(Assuming you're changing the option for a channel window. If you're changing it for a private message window, the setting is called "'''Set as default chat font'''".)}}

It is also recommended that you use a font that can actually display Unicode characters.

== Troubleshooting ==

'''Q:''' I have changed all of these settings but I still get strange symbols or empty boxes when someone sends UTF-8 encoded text to me!
: '''A:''' This means you don't use a font that has the characters being used. Note, recent windows versions come with 'Lucidia Sans Unicode' - which has most glyphs you're likely to want. Otherwise, you can try use these:
:* [http://saber.kawaii-shoujo.net/Various/ARIALUNI.TTF Arial Unicode MS]
{{eyecatchLight|2|Warning|This is a '''22MB''' download! (courtesy of DeathWolf)}}
:* [http://kosmos.kawaii-shoujo.net/MS-UIGothic.ttf MS UI Gothic]
{{eyecatchLight|2|Note|This is a '''7.8MB''' download. (courtesy of DeathWolf)}}
:* [http://irc.server.md/fixedsys.zip Fixedsys Excelsior] - A monospace font based on the standard Latin windows Fixedsys font, with wide support for different Unicode ranges. Only 100kb download.

----

'''Q:''' How can I fix other problems like characters not in system codepage being sent as ? marks, or logs/dcc file names being scrambled?
:'''A:''' Upgrade to 6.2 which fixes various encoding bugs - and make sure that 'multibyte display' is ''off''.

[[Category:Problems]]
Karasuhebihttps://wiki.anidb.net/index.php?title=Files:Deprecated_files&diff=17222Files:Deprecated files2013-06-07T08:33:19Z
Karasuhebi: /* Criteria for marking file deprecated */

{{TOCright}}

[[Files:Deprecated files|Deprecated files]] are files, which for several reasons (listed below) are normally of no interest to users. If you have enabled the "Use ajax where available" option in your profile, those files will be listed with light red background in the file area in the [[Animeentries|anime entries]]. They can be completely hidden by setting the "Hide deprecated files on anime page" option in your {{ProfileLink}}.

===Criteria for marking file deprecated===
A file will be marked deprecated if it meets any of the following criteria:
* the episode has 50 or more users in total, this file has 3 or less users, and it's not marked as file with verified CRC.
* the file is marked as "invalid CRC".
* the [[How to add/remove: Files#File Quality|quality of the file]] is set to low or worse.
* another file by the same [[Groupentries|group]] with the same [[File version|version]] exists and is marked as [[Files:CRC-verified files|file with verified CRC]], while this file is not (this more or less implies that this file has a invalid CRC after all).
* another file by the same [[Groupentries|group]] with a newer [[File version|version]] exists and is marked as [[Files:CRC-verified files|file with verified CRC]].
There is one '''exception''':
* files which are 48 or less hours old will not be marked deprecated.

===Deprecated files that will not be hidden===
Even if a file is marked as deprecated, it will not be hidden if it meets any of the following criteria:
* the file is in your [[MyList]]
* the file has more than 50 users
* the file is 7 or less days old
* hiding deprecated files would only leave one or no files for this episode

==General==
*By default and without asking provide a source for your change in case of:
:*Air/enddates
:*Total episode numbers
:*Official CRC
:*Official title
*Be prepared that a mod could pm you about the changes you proposed! meaning if you get pmed and don't reply in 3-7 days, depending on the mood of the mod, it's a deny as it blocks possible creqs
* '''DON'T''' creq v2/3/... files over v1 or other lower files! [[Content:Files|Add a new file]] instead!
* Refer to [[Content:Anime]] for content guidelines.

==File Source==
The source field on a file represents the source of the raw file that was used. It is '''not''' the final version resolution.
Example, you have a file with source DTV but you check the resolution and you see 1280x720, this doesn't automatically mean that the file source is HDTV, it probably means you have an up-scaled version of the original DTV raw.
If you are submitting a creq to change from DTV to HDTV please make sure it's actually a HDTV release not an up-scaled DTV version, in doubt check with the group that released the file.

==Allowed Source for official CRC==
* Official sfv (good source)
* CRC listing on official page/IRC topic (good source)
* CRC tag in filename (should be used only if no other official source is available, for official sources, refer to previous items, should be noted that you should also check the CRC of your file and compare it to the CRC in the filename, you might have a corrupt file).
* [http://www.envirosphere.com/ Envirosphere] & [http://www.baka-updates.com/ Baka-Updates] (3rd hand info, but kinda works. depends on the situation and the mod)

==Picture sizes==
*Recommended size: 300x400
*Max size for banner: 500x200 (for group-pics only)
*Max size: 100kb

==Air- & end-dates, total episodes==
*Don't creq start and enddates without a valid source!
*English pages will only get accepted as a valid source in special cases
*[http://www.animenewsnetwork.com ANN] and [http://www.animenfo.com AnimeNFO] are '''NOT''' official or valid sources of information. Neither is AniDB. We all only use 3rd hand info! No need to make it 4th hand.
*A Japanese page is wanted as source for sensible data like episodenumber and air/enddates: [[AniDB:Dates|examples]]

===24h+ fun===
----
{{small90|''(or "Why Japanese are extremely funny people who use 24:00+ times")''}}

Japan uses a different time system from most other countries, as they use 24:00, 25:00 and 26:00, instead of 00:00, 01:00 and 02:00.
Let's make an example to show what this means.

{{h4|Example:|}}

{{a|2835|Hachimitsu to Clover}}

[http://cal.syoboi.jp/tid/592 TV Schedule]
*2005-07-07(木) 26:00

In regular (not Japanese time) this means:
*08.07.2005 2:00

It's very clear that 08.07.2005 is the right date in this case. Especially official pages often list the "wrong" dates and don't include times, making it harder to spot such cases. It's recommended to check a TV schedule with times like http://cal.syoboi.jp if possible.

{{eyecatch|Conclusion|DON'T creq dates 1 day back if you don't know the airtime.
ALWAYS present your source for date changes!}}

==Titles==
===Anime titles - official titles===
This type is meant to ONLY be used for titles from official releases of the anime, not your own or fansubbers' translations. Use 'synonym' for unofficial versions and other variations.

Official titles can be historical - from past discontinued releases or television airings, as well as (non-bootlegged) VHS or DVD. If there are multiple official titles from different releases, add the newest/commonest only as 'official title' and others as synonyms.

Always provide a source for this when doing a creq.

===Episode titles===
If it's licensed go check the page of the licensor or the actual episodes from the R1 material.

official titles > fansubbed ones

''This excludes name changes done in cases where they just become silly.''

===Romanisation===
[[AniDB Definition:Romanisation|Romanisation the AniDB way]]

==Links in URL fields==
Official Japanese pages for anime only. Official includes any of the companies that were involved in the production of the given anime.
These are basically guidelines to follow. There are certain shows that some people are certain are anime, yet others are equally certain that they are not anime. This is meant to help determine what is considered an anime for AniDB. Questionable shows should be discussed in the [http://www.anidb.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=3 DB Change Requests] forum and the mods or exp will decide if it is appropriate to have in the database.

==Definition==
===What does "anime" mean in Japan?===
"Anime" in Japan technically means any animated film, regardless of origin. Also, "manga" is any printed comic.

====Why not use this definition?====
This is too broad, this would mean anything that is animated (Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, ...) would be considered anime.

===What does the rest of the world think?===
People in the rest of the world take "anime" to mean animated films from Japan.

====Why not use this definition?====
What does "from Japan" really mean? What if a show is produced by a Japanese company and was released in Japan, but was drawn in India because of cheap labor, is it an anime? What about that animated commercial for a bar of soap, is that anime? Also, many people consider many shows from China and Korea to also be anime because their style is similar to other anime.

===What about using the styles to define an anime?===
Anime styles are frequently distinctive and fairly easy to recognize. The stereotype is of characters with huge hair and large eyes. Although this is true of many animes (to varying degrees), there are also many animes that do not fit this description. Also not everything with big eyes is necessarily an anime either.

===So what IS an anime?===
An anime is an animated, professionally produced, feature film created by a Japanese company for the Japanese market.

====What does this mean?====
:* First of all, an anime needs to be animated. Live action, or something with just a few animated scenes is not an anime.
:* An anime has to be professionally produced. This means that fan made shows are not considered anime.
:* It has to be a feature film, that means it has to have a plot. For instance an animated soap commercial is not an anime.
:* The anime needs to be created by a Japanese company. The company can collaborate with other companies out of the country, but it has to have some involvement with a Japanese company.
:* The anime needs to be created for the Japanese market. For instance, Disney may collaborate with a Japanese company on the making of a film for the United States, but it is not an anime even though a Japanese company is involved.
:* The AniDB mods and ultimately [[user:Exp|Exp]] have the final say in what is appropriate for AniDB.

==Exceptions==
Yes, every rule has exceptions. There are a lot of borderline cases, but these cases should be discussed before adding them to the database. If there is something in the database or you think should be added to the database that does not match the definition above it needs to be discussed in the [http://www.anidb.net/forum/index.php Forum]. First, you should [http://www.anidb.net/forum/search.php Search] to see if there has already been a discussion about the anime in question. If you cannot find one, then you need to make a post in the [http://www.anidb.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=3 DB Change Requests] forum, put [ADD][ANIME] or [DEL][ANIME] in the subject of your topic.

===In General===
----
====Chinese/Korean productions?====
Are animated, professionally produced, feature films created by a Korean/Chinese company for the Korean/Chinese market allowed?
Generally, yes, check the forum before adding them though.

====AMVs?====
The keys here are, are they professionally produced and do they have a story line? If so, then yes. Note, in some cases an official AMV related to a series can be added as a special, but VERY rarely will an AMV have its own anime record, check the forum before adding something like this. An example is [http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=2324 Macross: Flashback 2012].

====Game CGs?====
Most are fan-made, so they are not professionally produced so they would not be considered anime. Animated ads for a game, although professionally produced probably do not have enough of a story line to be considered an anime.

====Fan-Made Shows/Parodies?====
No, they are not professionally produced.

====Parody Subs/Dubs?====
Not as anime entries. These are sometimes allowed as specials to an existing anime.

====Live Action?====
Where is the key requirement, "animation", hiding in this phrase? Are you mad? If there are some live action scenes that are incorporated into an anime that otherwise meets the requirements and when looked at as a whole they can still be considered animated, they may be anime (although this may be extremely unwise, common sense not ruling around here, as it's the first step on the sort of slippery slope we're already experiencing in country of origin), and certain official "live action" extras such as interviews are permitted. Check that your marbles are all still present before considering adding anything like this. Examples are [http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=837 D.C.~Da Capo~] and [http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=54 Hanaukyo Maids].

====Omake?====
Not as anime entries. Official omakes are allowed as specials to an existing anime.

Although that would be part of an argument for or against listing it as an anime, that does not mean that it will be automatically added or removed from AniDB.
Anime, like everything else in the modern world, is targeted towards specific audiences, both implicitly by the creators, and overtly by the marketing. Though categories are associated with specific sex and ages, this is not a bar on the anime being enjoyed by people who don't fit into that band. Not only do crossover titles exist, but also categories have a considerable following outside their main demographic. This does not invalidate the usefulness of marking a title as one of the categories, they just give a broad impression of an anime, rather than indicating specific content. Discussion on these issues can be found [http://www.anidb.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3641 in this forum post].

=Subcategories=
{{eyecatch|Note:|The descriptions on this page (and others) should be taken with a pinch of salt. These are very wide demographics, used by large publishers, and resist being too closely defined.}}

==18 Restricted==

This isn't really an "Audience".

While some anime might feature sexual content they still might not be porn. Thats what this "audience" was added for. Only use it when the content is clearly not intended for minors.

==Josei 女性==

A subset of anime and manga created mostly by women, for late teenage/adult female audiences.

The stories tend to be about everyday experiences of women living in Japan. Though there are some that cover high school, most cover the lives of adult women in Japan. The style also tends to be a more restrained, realistic version of shōjo, keeping some of the wispy features and getting rid of the very large sparkly eyes. There are exceptions in the style described above, but what defines Josei is some degree of stylistic continuity of comics within this particular demographic (the same is true with different different demographics that have different stylistic tendencies).

In addition, unlike Shoujo, it portrays realistic romance (as opposed to idealized romance). A subset of josei comics are comics that are aimed at women about homosexual male relationships, called yaoi. Josei is also known for a very sexual edge; many of the magazines have some of the raunchiest porn produced in Japan.

The male equivalent to josei is seinen.
==Kodomo 子供==

For small children. This should be a very clear distinction in most cases. Simple language and animation, vaguely educational themes, and absolutely nothing objectionable.

==Mina 皆==

For 'the family'. Anything that is deliberately targeted at as wide a range of people as possible. Most common for cinematic and other high budget releases that require a very large audience to be financially viable. Think Ghibli.

==Shounen 少年==

A style of anime and manga intended for boys. Shounen anime and manga is characterized by high-action, often humorous plots featuring male protagonists. The camaraderie between boys or men on sports teams, fighting squads, etc. is often emphasized. Unrealistically attractive female characters are also common (see fanservice), but are not a requirement—Dragon Ball Z for example has only a few unremarkable female characters. The art style of shounen also tends to be less flowery than that of shoujo, although there is significant variability by artist.

In contrast to shounen, anime and manga for men (college age and up) is called seinen. Despite a number of significant differences, many Western fans don't make a distinction between shounen and seinen. This is due to the fact that very few seinen manga have been published outside of Japan. On the other hand, many older men in Japan read shounen magazines because of their ease of reading during commutes to and from work on trains. Consequently shounen magazines (including Shonen Jump) are the most popular manga magazines in Japan.
==Shoujo 少女==

A style of anime and manga intended for girls and may have some crossover appeal to boys as well.

Typically, "pure shoujo" manga revolves around love stories and strong female protagonists, however, some "shoujo anime/manga" are more plot/action oriented to attract a wider audience. For instance a lot of older salarymen were drawn to a manga called Banana Fish for its hard edged yakuza action (which is more often found in seinen manga). What kept female audiences interested in this work was a gentle relationship between two gay bishōnen lovers amongst all the violence.

Shoujo anime and manga often contain elements of shounen-ai or even yaoi (sexual relationship between male characters) not to mention shoujo-ai and, recently, yuri (sexual relationship between female characters). The aesthetic of the bishounen is very prominent. Another very popular genre is Magical Girl of which the famous series Sailor Moon is part of.

Sometimes it is classified as shojo or shonen, but it has distinct features, usually classified by a wider variety of art styles (particularly in manga) and more variation in subject matter, ranging from the avant garde to the pornographic.
=How to find the 'target audience'=

==The readership of the manga==

A lot of anime is made off the back of a successful manga - as well as providing the material for story it guarantees a fan base. Obviously it would be possible to take an original work and make a completely different anime out of it, but in practice this doesn't happen as the captive audience is part of the reason it's worth taking the large financial risk. As most successful manga is serialised in magazines aimed at particular demographics, the easiest way to find the target audience for an anime is to see what publication the manga it's based on ran in. If it's a Shounen Jump manga, you can be pretty sure that the anime can be labelled 'Shounen' as well.
One possible exception I'll raise here. The Rurouni Kenshin manga was serialised in Shounen Jump from 1994 to 1999. The tv series and movie released from 1996 to 1998, despite being pseudo historical and somewhat more serious than other adventure anime, are quite clearly shounen too. However the ovas, released from 1999 to 2001 seem clearly aimed at the Kenshin fans who, having been reading the manga for 5 years, are perhaps now more interested in the maturer themes, and would be more accurately marked as seinen.

==The content of the anime==

Basically this is *the* way to tell, but can be deeply misleading if you're not familiar with the conventions. You often see westerners saying seinen must be shoujo, because it has romance in it, or shoujo must be shounen because it's got loads of action, or shounen must be seinen because it's too ecchi for younger boys. In short, a good indicator, but make sure there's some discussion on the off chance you've got the wrong end of the stick.

==The 'genre' on anidb, ANN or other english fansites==

Generally suffer from the problem indicated above of judging on content, so some kind of discussion is still probably helpful. Though perhaps not always, going by the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Seinen wikipedia seinen talk page]...

=Adding an audience category to AniDB=

Audience should be considered a '''strict category''' - that is, the sum of the ratings of all the leaves should not exceed three stars. So, if you add ''Shounen'' as ***, there should be no other audiences set. This is because a full rating is saying that an anime is absolutely part of that demographic (remembering that the definitions themselves are loose). In the case of 'cross over' titles, set ratings that add up to no more that three stars in total

==What to do when unsure==

If the anime is based not based on a manga, or you can't find out much about the magazine, there are not always obvious indicators. If you have a vauge idea, add a star or so, it's then clear to later editors that changes might be appropriate. However, feel free to get on the [[IRC:Anidb|IRC channel]] at irc://irc.zirc.org/anidb and ask around.

==What to do with stuff that doesn't fit==

Easy. Don't add anything.
== Autocreqing ==

Avdump is now part of a new autocreqing system. Some more or less important notes:
* To be able to use this feature you’ll need an AniDB account and you have to define the ''api password'' in your [[profile]]. All data sent to the server will be logged with ip and uid.
* Communication between client and server is ''one-way'' (except session init/refresh); the client does not receive any confirmation for sent data. This means that there is no guaranty that all the dumps you send will arrive at the server and stored in the database, and there is no way to check this.
* Sessions are based on ''ip+port''; check your firewall and router settings to make sure the port is not changed (NAT/whatever). Use -port:nnnn to override the default port avdump use.
* There is no direct connection between data sent to AniDB and creqs generated. The data received will just be stored for later processing. There is no way to check the current status for a dump. Usually, it should take ''at least 48 hours'' from the moment you dump a file till the data actually changes. If any irregularities occur, or when there is too much data pending, it will take more time.
* The creqs generated will report the user who sent the data first (for a specific file) as the creqer.
* You may dump files currently not in the db. The data is still stored and will be used later if/after the file is added. It might also be used for ''machine assisted file adding'' at some point.
* Files creqed by the new system will be locked, meaning some fields will not be possible to change. Notify a moderator if you are '''sure''' that some of the data locked for a specific file is wrong.
* Not all dumps are sent to the server; Only mkv, ogm, avi, mp4, mov, rm and mpeg dumps from non corrupted files are sent:
** The asf parser does not detect fps.
** Audio files are too few and not considered important atm.
** Nothing useful can be extracted from archives and subtitles (that I can think of).
** Corruption means that the parser fails and the extracted data can not be trusted.

==What is it==
Avdump is a video codec identification utility - identifies which video codec and audio compression method is used on video files. Furthermore it calculates the used bitrates, the length, identifies the number of used audiochannel and more.

It is mainly based on [http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en mediainfo], but got enhanced and changed to fit anidb's needs by [[User:Epoximator|Epoximator]].

Avdump was created with the intention to provide anidb with a tool to standarize the input. Furthermore it will become part of the upcoming [[AOM|AOM 0.6]] allowing to autocreq all the generated informations.

===Supported formats===
* Video : MKV, OGM, AVI, DivX, WMV, QuickTime, Real, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DVD (VOB)...
::(Codecs : DivX, XviD, MSMPEG4, ASP, H.264, AVC...)
* Audio : OGG, MP3, WAV, RA, AC3, DTS, AAC, M4A, AU, AIFF...
* Subtitles : SRT, SSA, ASS, SAMI...

===Known issues===
'''Note:''' Avdump is under development. Don't take the validity of its output for granted. Please report errors/issues.
*Audio channel detection is very simple:
**Number of channels might be wrong. (5.1 vs 6.1, 6.1 vs 7.1)
**No check of actual data in channels. (dummy channels)
*MP3 VBR check does only detect bitrate switching. (variable frame size)
*Missing bits in obscure containers (ie. not mkv/ogm/avi/mp4). Waiting for mediainfo to support this.
**No fps for asf/wmv files.
**...
* Avdump is only for windows at the moment. It should work in wine, though.

== Autocreqing ==

==You know an Episode for an Anime that's not listed...==

AniDB is a userdriven DB and every user can add new episodes. So if you know an episode for an Anime thats not yet in Anidb we encourage you to add it. We also ask you to include as much info as possible when adding a new episode, it's for all users' benefit.

==Where can I add new Episodes?!==
At the bottom of every anime entry is a link names "Add Episode". Once you click it you're on the "Add Episode" page. There's a lot of info you can input here.

==Basic info you should include when adding an episode==
===Episode number===
Be careful with different episodeorders here. For the moment the japanese "How it was supposed to be shown" order is our standard

===Type===
*Normal Episode
*Special/Extra Episode (DVD Specials, Bonus eps)
*Opening/Ending/Theme/Credits Episode
*Trailer/Promo/Adv Episode
*Parody/Fandub Episode
*Other Episode (Supportfiles (AC3 modpacks, fontpacks, subtitles for more than 1 ep), official PVs from the DVDs and other things.)

{{eyecatch|Note:|"Other" is NOT meant for OST's, Manga, AMV's or any other not official Special!
PV's are NOT allowed if they weren't on the DVD (R1, R2) as a special!}}

===Episode Name (English)===
Check the official page if it's licensed, if it's not use a translation of the romaji/kanji title.

If you have neither use: "Episode XX" where XX is the number of the episode.

===Play Length===
The play length of this episode. Round up.

== Optional Info ==
We'd like you to add this info sooner or later to the episode since some other users will benefit from your work.

===Episode Name (Romaji)===
Please check our [[Kanji & Romaji Guideline]] for further assistance with this.
*For OVA (complete ep#=1)
If there is no real ep title (aka when the ep title = anime title) just leave the field blank
*For Movies
Just leave the field blank.

===Episode Name (Kanji)===
Please check our [[Kanji & Romaji Guideline]] for further assistance with this.
[http://www.allcinema.net AllCinema] is a reliable source for this.
*For OVA (complete ep#=1)
If there is no real ep title (aka when the ep title = anime title) just leave the field blank
*For Movies
Just leave the field blank.

===First Aired/Released and Finished Airing/Release===
Check the official Japanese(!) page, [http://cal.syoboi.jp Japanese TV Guide] or other pages listed [[Where to find release-dates for Anime|here]].

Be careful with shows that have 24:00 and later air hours - this means that show will air on the night after the specified date. For the purposes of AniDB, a show listed as airing between 00:00 and 23:59 is added with the listed date; any show airing on 24:00 or later is added with the "first aired" date of the ''next day''.

Example:

Japanese TV schedule says: 01.03.2005 25:30

this means it aired: 02.03.2005 01:30.

Such an episode would be added as "first aired on '''02'''.03.2005".

===Recap===
This field should only get used for pure recaps!

===Description===
Extra information about the episode, such as unusual airing arrangements, titles in other languages, etc.

You can put an episode summary in here, but only if you like pain.

==How to Remove bad entries==
If you added a bad entry yourself you can remove it as long as no one added a file to this entry. Otherwise, please post the [[ID:eid|eid]] of and a link to the entry to be removed here: [http://www.anidb.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=3 DB Change Requests Forum]

The reason behind this is that all commands other than the [[IRC:Chii#!anime|!anime]] command require a full match. That means the anime title you enter has to be the main title, a synonym or an added short title for that anime.

This is done because the result of an [[IRC:Chii#!anime|!anime]] command with a title which is not in the database can lead to pretty unpredictable results. The same request could even return different animes on each execution. This makes it unsuitable for all other [[IRC:Chii|Chii[AR]]] commands. (i.e. you don't want to vote for the wrong anime, now do you?)

{{update}}{{TOCright}}

==What is the problem?==
When adding files from groups that release RAWs, you should make sure that the group that released it really is the originator of the file; a lot of times, RAW groups merely download a file via [[Winny]] or [[Share]] and redistribute it via [[BitTorrent]]. This is not enough in AniDB's opinion to give them credit for the file: since any other RAW group, or any other person for that matter could do the exact same thing. Some RAW groups like leet-raws go through a rigid quality control and tries to find the very best version of a file distributed via Winny or Share, and view their tags as a sort of quality-assurance; this is still not enough to credit them in AniDB's opinion, just mark the quality as better than the other versions if there are significant differences. If you know who released the file originally, then you should add their name to the file. l33t-raws has in the past been good enough to provide a list of who originally released their files via Winny or Share, but we are not sure what their current policy is. Some RAW groups do release their own RAWs, and those should be credited, but it can sometimes be a hassle to figure out which RAW group to trust in this manner. This page should provide a list of who you should credit and who you in general should not.

==List of RAW groups==
This list is by no means complete, and we ask you to please consider adding names to the list if you come across one; even if you do not know whether they make their own raws or not, add them to unknown, or make a comment in the forum.

__NOEDITSECTION__
__NOTOC__
This guide is meant to get you started with creqing, it will explain how/where and what to creq, in different sections depending on what kind of object you want to change.

Most creqs are done to the files, as they are often entered wrong, and alot of the time, things in anidb change, and the fileentries need to be updated because/in preparation of this.

=Files=
These are usually the most easy creqs to make, as you generally do them if you have the file at hand, and notice that things are wrong/missing in the fileentry.

::If you do not know whether you have files like this or not, you should check your [[mylist reports]]. There are a number of reports made specifically for the purpose of finding missing information.
===Sources===
----
{{eyecatch|Note:|For every change you propose, you should specify your source.}}

====Filenames====
If your source is a filename, you should specify the filename, as well as account for where you got it.
====Topics====
If your source is an IRC topic, you should specify which channel and network (and password if needed) it is on, as well as the actual topic.
====Forum posts====
If your source is a forum post, you should give a link to the thread and/or specific post you refer to. Note that if the poster is not one of the group's actual members, the source will be regarded as invalid.
====Websites====
The main website of a group is not enough, unless the information is in a newsitem on the front-page, you should specify the exact page where your information was found.

A few different aspects of the files to take a look at are these:
----
{|style="width: 100%; clear: both;"
|style="width: 1.5em;"|
|style="width: 1.5em;"|
|
|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Length===
|If the length of the file is entered wrong or not entered at all, please check the length in [[AOM]] if you have an avi-file, or use [http://stud.ntnu.no/~jovetlea/avdump.rar avdump] for every other file.

Note that separate subtitle-files should not have length entered.

''[[Content:Subtitles|further information]]''
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Hashes===
|AniDB stores a bunch of hashes that are used to uniquely identify each file, almost every file in AniDB will have an [[ed2k-hash]], and most files will also have a CRC. If you want to fill in all the hashes that AniDB supports, I would recommend that you use one of the AniDB clients to hash your file: [[AOM]] or [[WebAOM]].
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Official CRC====
|You should mark this if the CRC matches the official CRC for the file, as provided by the releasing group.

As you noticed, there were a few caveats in that sentence:
#The file needs to be released by an actual group.
#The group that released it has to have listed the official CRC. This can either be in the group's IRC-channel '''topic''', their '''website''', their '''forum''', or the '''filename''' as long as you got the file directly from the group.
{{eyecatch|Note:|You need to provide source for this.}}
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Version===
|If you the group has released more than one version of this episode, you should set which version it is here. This information can often be gleaned from the filename, it if contains a "v2" or similar. If there is no file already in the DB by this group for this episode, it will likely be a v1 (though there are exceptions). Some groups do not list which version a file is, and at such times, you should use your own judgement.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Censored===
|If a file is censored, you should make sure tihs flag is set. Censored does not mean that there are bleeps instead of swear-words, it means that genitalia or extreme guro is mosaiced/blurred out.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Group===
|This should be set to the group that released the file - the groupname is usually supplied in the filename unless it has been renamed. Note that it should be the group of the ones who did most of the work on the file that should be entered, not someone who just redistributes the file, or (god forbid) reencode the file by himself for whatever reason. Alot of RAW groups only redistribute files - they do not encode or capture the video themselves, they just download it from their favourite p2p network and redistribute it on another one.

''[[Which raw groups to credit|further information]]''
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Released===
|Here you should enter the date the group released the file - if the group does not specify the date on their own website but you know when it was made public, you should specify the date using GMT. A few resources you could check for file release dates if you cannot find the information on the group's website or IRC channel are the following: [http://www.envirosphere.com/ Envirosphere] or [http://baka-updates.com/ Baka-Updates].
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Audio===
|When it comes to audio, you should check how many streams there are, what languages the streams are in, how many channels the streams are, which codecs the streams use, and what bitrate the streams are in. {{eyecatch|Note:|For each stream, this is usually different!}}
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Language====
|As some files do not specify which audio language a file has, you should really try to check this by listening to the audio. If you do not know the language, if the file specifies which audio it has, then that is good enough. You can find out which language a stream uses in alot of different programs, but we here at AniDB will recommend the nifty little program called: [http://stud.ntnu.no/~jovetlea/avdump.rar avdump].
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Codec====
|For finding out which codec an audio stream uses, we recommend that you use [http://stud.ntnu.no/~jovetlea/avdump.rar avdump], but you can also use [[AOM]] if the file is an avi-container with just one audio-stream. If you use AOM for this, you should note that it doesn't specify whether an mp3 audio stream is CBR or VBR. A general rule you can use for this is, that if the bitrate is specified as 112, 128, 160, 192 or something like that, with only 0s as decimals, it is probably CBR. If it has decimals or are other numbers that just seem odd, it is probably VBR. This is not a failsafe rule however, but it is generally accepted as good enough.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Bitrate====
|Quite alot of fileentries have missing or bad bitrate information, though for audio it is more common to have than for video; you can and should use [http://stud.ntnu.no/~jovetlea/avdump.rar avdump] to get this information. If you want to, [[AOM]] will also work.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Channels====
|The number of channels of audio for a file - 2.0 is standard stereo, and it is also the most common. Other valid options include 1.0 for mono, 4.0 for Dolby Surround, 5.1 for Surround, and there are also 6.1 and 7.1, but those are so far very rare.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Streams====
|If the file has more than one audio-stream, for now, you need to specify this information in a comment. This will soon be changed however, since AniDB very recently added support for multiple audio-streams. You just can't modify them yet.

''[[Content:Filecomments#Audio|further information]]
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Video===
|Most files contain only one video stream, but there are exceptions. If the file you are creqing has more than one, for now, you should add the information about it in the comment field. Also note that alot of players and video-file inspectors won't be able to correctly detect these kinds of things, so you should use a program like [http://stud.ntnu.no/~jovetlea/avdump.rar avdump] to get correct information.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Resolution====
|The resolution is specified by the video-stream's width and height, you can use a program like [http://stud.ntnu.no/~jovetlea/avdump.rar avdump] to find out what the exact measurements are; and if the file is in an avi-container with just one stream, you can use [[AOM]].
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====FPS====
|FPS stands for Frames-per-second, and describes how many video frames are displayed each second in the video-stream. This is a very newly added field, and as such it cannot be creqed just yet. If the file is in a matroska video container (mkv), the FPS can change whenever the video needs it, so these files cannot be accurately entered here. For most files the frame-rate will be 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97, 30 or sometimes even 120fps. In Japan and the US, DVDs and TV-shows are mostly encoded/broadcast using 24, 29.97 or 30fps, while in Europe, 25fps is most often used. So depending on the origin of the file, you can make assumptions about its fps.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Codec====
|When it comes to codecs, you should use programs such as [http://stud.ntnu.no/~jovetlea/avdump.rar avdump] or maybe even gspot (though this is not recommended, as it reports the FourCC entered, which can sometimes be wrong). In general, avi-containers have DivX or XviD, and H264 is most often encountered in matroska video containers (mkv) or MPEG 4 Video File (mp4). These are not rules however, and you should actually check which is the correct codec.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Bitrate====
|Bitrates for video-streams are a tough thing to get correct - in fact, there probably is no "correct" bitrate at all, because most different programs report a different bitrate. There is no standard way to get the bitrate. AniDB recommends you use [http://stud.ntnu.no/~jovetlea/avdump.rar avdump] to get the bitrate.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Subtitles===
|When it comes to subtitles, there are two major things to take note of: if it is hardsubbed or if it is softsubbed. If it is softsubbed, there can easily be more than one subtitle-stream, however if it is hardsubbed, it would be much more encumbersome to make more than one subtitle-stream. For now, because stream-editing hasn't been implemented just yet, you will haveto add information about the different streams in the comment field.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Language====
|Set the language to the subtitle's language. If it is softsubbed, and you don't recognize the language used, you can take a look at what [http://stud.ntnu.no/~jovetlea/avdump.rar avdump] says about the subtitle-stream. However, it is better to say which language is used by viewing the file with the subs and enter it that way, since erroneous information could be entered.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Type====
|This specifies whether the file has softsubs or hardsubs, softsubs are a separate stream only rendered when the video is being output to the screen. Hardsubs are encoded as a part of the video-stream.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Flags====
|Flags you can set should include whether the subtitle stream is especially designed for the hearing impaired, or if it has director's comments in it.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|}

=Anime=
The easiest things to creq changes to in an anime entry are probably the ANN/ANFO/Allcinema URLs, pics and description - all you need for those are basically search-skills and/or writing skills. Also, you can add new titles, categories, companies, and relations without an actual creq; however if you want to change/delete one of those, you need to make a thread about it in the [http://www.anidb.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=3 DB Change Requests forum].

{{eyecatch|Note:|For every change you propose, you should specify your source.}}

====Filenames====
If your source is a filename, you should specify the filename, as well as account for where you got it.
====Topics====
If your source is an IRC topic, you should specify which channel and network (and password if needed) it is on, as well as the actual topic.
====Forum posts====
If your source is a forum post, you should give a link to the thread and/or specific post you refer to. Note that if the poster is not one of the group's actual members, the source will be regarded as invalid.
====Websites====
The main website of a group is not enough, unless the information is in a newsitem on the front-page, you should specify the exact page where your information was found.

A few different aspects of the files to take a look at are these:
----
{|style="width: 100%; clear: both;"
|style="width: 1.5em;"|
|
|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Length===
|If the length of the file is entered wrong or not entered at all, please check the length in [[AOM]] if you have an avi-file, or use [http://stud.ntnu.no/~jovetlea/avdump.rar avdump] for every other file.

Note that separate subtitle-files should not have length entered.

''[[Content:Subtitles|further information]]''
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Hashes===
|
====Official CRC====

{{eyecatch|Note:|You need to provide source for this.}}
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Version===
===Censored===
===Group===

===Released===
===Audio===
|When it comes to audio, you should check how many streams there are, what languages the streams are in, how many channels the streams are, which codecs the streams use, and what bitrate the streams are in. {{eyecatch|Note:|For each stream, this is usually different!}}
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Language====
|
====Codec====
|
====Bitrate====
|
====Channels====
|
====Streams====
|If the file has more than one audio-stream, for now, you need to specify this information in a comment. This will soon be changed however, since AniDB very recently added support for multiple audio-streams. You just can't modify them yet.

''[[Content:Filecomments#Audio|further information]]
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Video===
|
====Resolution====
|
====FPS====
{{eyecatch|Note:|Creqing for this has not yet been implemented.
But it should be soon.}}
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Codec====
|
====Bitrate====
===Subtitles===
|
====Language====
|
====Type====
|This specifies whether the file has softsubs or hardsubs, softsubs are a separate stream only rendered when the video is being output to the screen. Hardsubs are encoded as a part of the video-stream.
{{eyecatch|Note:|Creqing for this has not yet been implemented.
But it should be soon.}}
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Flags====
|Flags you can set should include whether the subtitle stream is especially designed for the hearing impaired, or if it has director's comments in it.
{{eyecatch|Note:|Creqing for this has not yet been implemented.
But it should be soon.}}

If you want to '''delete or change''' a category, if you added it yourself, you can just hit the "Del" link next to the category, and in order to change it, just add it again, with the correct value. However, you can't delete categories someone else added, so in that case you'd need to go to the [http://www.anidb.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=3 DB Change Requests forum] and request the category to be "[CATEGORY][DEL] Anime" and state which category that should be deleted.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Type===
|If you want to change an anime's type, you should provide a good and valid source for your information; type-changes are not very common at all - usually the person who added the entry knew what type of anime was coming (or else he wouldn't have been allowed to add it until there was more concrete information about the anime (AniDB is '''not''' a news-site!)). Provide links!
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Episodes===
|The number of episodes for an anime can change at almost any time (even (though rarely) when it's already over; if the studio wants to continue with the same anime (rather than making a sequel)), and as such, AniDB requires the official word of the studio for this change - just because ANN and/or AnimeNFO have changed their entries does not mean AniDB will. Allcinema is a much better source, but you should still try to find the official studio's memo. Provide links!
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Year===
|Sometimes the date when an anime aired/was released is wrong - if you see any inconsistencies when it comes to this, you should try to find 1: official mention, 2: 90% of the (japanese) sites on the internet agree ... provide links!

''[[AniDB:Dates|further information]]''
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Companies===
|Adding companies can be done directly, just click the "Add/Edit: Company" link at the bottom of the anime-entry. There you should specify what kind of connection the company has to the anime, and then the company name. A mod may at any time confront you with requiring confirmation on these matters - you should be able to provide a screenshot/photo (if you watched it on tv) of the credits, or a link to a good (japanese) listing.
{{eyecatch|Note:|Never add american (re)distribution companies here!}}
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===URL===
|If the official URL has changed, or is not entered, and you find the correct one, just enter it - these are generally Japanese. Generally, you don't need to provide source for these; the creq is its own source after all.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===ANN/ANFO/Allcinema===
|If the anime doesn't have an [http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ ANN]/[http://www.animenfo.com/ AnimeNFO]/[http://www.allcinema.net Allcinema] link, search the respective website and provide the correct id/part of the link.

Sometimes some of the sites (read: ANN) have more than one entry for the same anime - in this case, provide a link to the one that is most comprehensive.

Note: for this, you hardly need a source, unless there are more than one entry for the same anime - in which case you should state this and your reasoning for choosing the one you chose.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Relations===
|You can '''add relations yourself''' by just clicking on the "Add/Edit: Relations" link at the bottom of the anime entry. There you then specify what kind of relation the anime has, and what other anime it has the relation to.

If you want to '''delete or change''' a relation, you haveto use the [http://www.anidb.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=3 DB Change Requests forum] for that. Start a thread named something like "[RELATION][DEL] Anime" and state which relation to which anime should be deleted (or changed).

{{eyecatch|Note:|The anime relations-graph is updated according to the [[Routine Maintenance]].}}
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Description===
|If you have seen the anime, and think the description that is currently provided sucks, you can write your own, search the internet for the anime's official description, or fix the description that is currently provided. If you get a description from somewhere besides your own mind, you should specify your source in the description, and make sure that the place you got it from doesn't mind having their descriptions used. If you write your own description after having seen the anime, you are welcome to put your own name/nick as a source in the description. Note however that just as you changed the description, so can anyone change your description after you, so you should be okay with this before submitting your "work".
{{eyecatch|Note:|AnimeNFO descriptions are generally bad, so if you can remove/fix one of these, your creq will most likely be granted by default.}}
===Picture===
|If you can find a better picture than the one currently used, you can upload it to Anidb using the [http://anidb.info/cgi-bin/picupload.pl Pic Upload function] and then enter the image name you were provided.

If your picture is clearly better than the current one, your creq will most likely be granted right away - however, if there is the slightest doubt, the picture change may be voted upon in [[IRC:Anidb|#anidb]], and the picture that gets the most votes stays. If your new picture doesn't follow the rules, you will be asked to revoke your creq.

=Episodes=
For episodes, the easiest thing to fix is probably the play length - it is not always an exact measure, as it only stores minutes, and people do not tend to round consistently, so if the info is 1 minute off, that is most likely the reason. You can easily get the play length from most files (unless they contain multiple episodes). When it comes to the different titles, you need a good source, and usually fansub-translations will not suffice!

===Sources===
----
{{eyecatch|Note:|For every change you propose, you should specify your source.}}

====Filenames====
If your source is a filename, you should specify the filename, as well as account for where you got it.
====Topics====
If your source is an IRC topic, you should specify which channel and network (and password if needed) it is on, as well as the actual topic.
====Forum posts====
If your source is a forum post, you should give a link to the thread and/or specific post you refer to. Note that if the poster is not one of the group's actual members, the source will be regarded as invalid.
====Websites====
The main website of a group is not enough, unless the information is in a newsitem on the front-page, you should specify the exact page where your information was found.

A few different aspects of the files to take a look at are these:
----
|style="width: 1.5em;"|
|
|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Length===
|If the length of the file is entered wrong or not entered at all, please check the length in [[AOM]] if you have an avi-file, or use [http://stud.ntnu.no/~jovetlea/avdump.rar avdump] for every other file.

Note that separate subtitle-files should not have length entered.

''[[Content:Subtitles|further information]]''
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Hashes===
|
====Official CRC====

{{eyecatch|Note:|You need to provide source for this.}}
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Version===
===Censored===
===Group===

===Released===
===Audio===
|When it comes to audio, you should check how many streams there are, what languages the streams are in, how many channels the streams are, which codecs the streams use, and what bitrate the streams are in. {{eyecatch|Note:|For each stream, this is usually different!}}
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Language====
|
====Codec====
|
====Bitrate====
|
====Channels====
|The number of channels of audio for a file - 2.0 is standard stereo, and it is also the most common. Other valid options include 1.0 for mono, 4.0 for Dolby Surround, 5.1 for Surround, and there are also 6.1 and 7.1, but those are so far very rare.
{{eyecatch|Note:|Creqing for this has not yet been implemented.
But it should be soon.}}
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Streams====
|If the file has more than one audio-stream, for now, you need to specify this information in a comment. This will soon be changed however, since AniDB very recently added support for multiple audio-streams. You just can't modify them yet.

''[[Content:Filecomments#Audio|further information]]
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Video===
|
====Resolution====
|
====FPS====
{{eyecatch|Note:|Creqing for this has not yet been implemented.
But it should be soon.}}
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Codec====
|
====Bitrate====
===Subtitles===
|
====Language====
|
====Type====
|This specifies whether the file has softsubs or hardsubs, softsubs are a separate stream only rendered when the video is being output to the screen. Hardsubs are encoded as a part of the video-stream.
{{eyecatch|Note:|Creqing for this has not yet been implemented.
But it should be soon.}}
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Flags====
|Flags you can set should include whether the subtitle stream is especially designed for the hearing impaired, or if it has director's comments in it.
{{eyecatch|Note:|Creqing for this has not yet been implemented.
But it should be soon.}}
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|

For a couple of things, you may need to specify an image as a source - if the image is not already on the web, you can use one of AniDB's [[Recommended Links#Image Hosting|Recommended image hosters]] to host your picture.
|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Titles===
|You can '''add titles yourself''', by just clicking the "Add/Edit: Synonym/Short Title" link at the bottom of an anime entry, and there you can just add the title quite easily; take note that if the title is bogus, you will likely be banned from AniDB. If you want to test this out, you can use the {{a|357|Test Anime}} to do it.

If you want to '''change or delete''' a title, you can only do this through the[http://www.anidb.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=3 DB Change Requests forum], and you should start a thread named something like "[TITLE][DEL] Anime title".
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Genres/Categories===
|You can '''add categories yourself''', by just clicking the "[show]" link found by the categories, and there select either "Add Category" or "Mass Add Category".

''[[Categories|further information]]''

If you want to '''delete or change''' a category, if you added it yourself, you can just hit the "Del" link next to the category, and in order to change it, just add it again, with the correct value. However, you can't delete categories someone else added, so in that case you'd need to go to the [http://www.anidb.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=3 DB Change Requests forum] and request the category to be "[CATEGORY][DEL] Anime" and state which category that should be deleted.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Type===
===Episodes===
===Year===
|Sometimes the date when an anime aired/was released is wrong - if you see any inconsistencies when it comes to this, you should try to find 1: official mention, 2: 90% of the (japanese) sites on the internet agree ... provide links!

''[[AniDB:Dates|further information]]''
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Companies===
{{eyecatch|Note:|Never add american (re)distribution companies here!}}
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===URL===
===ANN/ANFO/Allcinema===

===Relations===

===Description===
{{eyecatch|Note:|AnimeNFO descriptions are generally bad, so if you can remove/fix one of these, your creq will most likely be granted by default.}}
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Picture===

===Sources===
----
{{eyecatch|Note:|For every change you propose, you should specify your source.}}

====Websites====
For kanji titles, play lengths, and air/release dates, you should always try to find a Japanese website as the source.

For english title, if the anime has been licensed, provide an official english source.

====Images====
Screenshots of the titles as displayed on the screen, or pictures of the titles as written on DVD-covers or booklets are usually valid as Kanji and English title sources.

If you need a free image host, take a look here: [[Recommended Links#Image Hosting|Recommended image hosters]].

If you need to take a screenshot, [[How to take a screenshot|here is a guide on how to do that]].
|style="width: 1.5em;"|
|
|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Titles===
|For title-creqs, you should generally find an official source.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====English====
|If the anime is licensed, you should try to find the official english title - if not, you can translate it yourself (or take it from a fansub), but this should only be done if it is not licensed and it has no official english title.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Romaji====
|You should only give the romaji title for titles that already have kanji titles. If there is an official romaji title (I doubt it), that is what you should provide, otherwise you should take a look at the [[AniDB Definition:Romanisation|AniDB Romanisation Guideline]], and try to follow that as closely as possible.
{{eyecatch|Note:|Automatic romanisation engines usually give lots of wrong titles, so they should be avoided at all costs!
DO NOT USE THEM!}}
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Kanji====
|For kanji-titles, you should always specify a source - especially for conflicting entries. This should definitely be a japanese site. And preferably it should be the official site for the anime.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Play Length===
|If you have access to the episode, you can supply the length of the file for this field - if not, you can for example search for the correct length on google and provide sources from there.
{{eyecatch|Note:|The source should be Japanese, as too often the English version of the anime is cut.}}
It is suggested that you search using the kanji name of the anime and episode in order to get the best results on google.

In order to help you find where the number of minutes for the episode is listed, try to find the kanji character "分", meaning minute.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Air/Release Date===
|If you cannot find a date for the episode on the official site, you can try one of the sites listed in the [[Where to find release dates for anime]] section of the wiki.

If this does not help (often, they only display when the first episode of the anime aired/was released), you can try the same approach as for the play length: google for the kanji titles of the anime and the episode. Hopefully you will find a site that lists all the episodes properly.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Description===
|Most people do not read the description as it is not readily available - but in this place, you should probably describe if it is a recap of a number of episodes, or any similar details. It is advised not to bother with actual descriptions of the episode in question - but I guess noone is stopping you.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|}

=Groups=
When it comes to groups, things can change all the time, they can move their channel, they can get a new website, they can start focusing on other aspects of fansubbing. Each of these changes should be provided with an actual source, be it in the form of a website, a forum post or an irc chat log.

===Sources===
----
{{eyecatch|Note:|For every change you propose, you should specify your source.}}

====Website====
Mainly, the group's own website should be used a source for most/all of your group-creqs.

====Forum====
In some cases, the forum may suffice.

====Channel====
If the group doesn't have a website or forum, logs from their irc channel may be used - but you should make sure that what is said is not meant as a joke, and that it is said by a person who actually knows what they're talking about.

|style="width: 1.5em;"|
|
|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Name/ShortName===
|If the wrong name/shortname is entered for a group, change it here - and provide coroborating evidence that it isn't just another group with a similar name.

Note that for shortnames, sometimes the wrong name is entered because it clashes with another group's (short)name.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===URL===
|Specify the official URL of the group if it has one - if the group provides bittorrent links on their main page, that page will '''NOT''' be allowed to be entered. Try to find a page that doesn't have any torrent links on it - perhaps their news-page or forum if they have one.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===EMAIL===
|If the group has an email they want to be contacted on, provide it here - it would be preferable to have a source for this.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===IRC===
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Server====
|Here you should provide which server the group's channel resides on - if you find old outdated (e.g. irc.mircx.com) servers listed here, try to find where the group moved on to, and list that.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Channel====
|Here you should specify which channel the group has - you can usually find this info on their website or forums, or they might specify it in their released files.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|
|colspan=2 valign=top|
====Password====
|If their channel has a password you need to know in order to join, you should specify it here (if you know it).
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Picture===
|If the group has an official picture they want to use, use the [http://anidb.info/cgi-bin/picupload.pl Pic Upload Function] to upload the picture to AniDB, and provide the resulting picture id in the creq.

Note:
:* The recommended size for pictures is 300x400.
:* Don't use animated pictures.
:* There is no size limit, but the picture should stay under 100kb, if possible.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Description===
|Enter a description of the group - this could include what kind of releases they make and if they're still alive and such - but try to keep your personal opinions out of it.

If you want to voice your opinions on their releases you should use the anime-group-comments function on the anime pages instead.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Parent/Child Groups===
|If a group is a parent or child group of another group, unless you added the actual entry yourself you cannot fix this outside of the [http://www.anidb.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=3 DB Change Requests forum]. You should start a thread named something like "[GROUP][PARENT] Groupname" and specify which group is parent to which group in the post.
|-
|colspan=5 style="border-top: 1px dotted gray;"|
|-
|colspan=3 valign=top|
===Group-anime-status===
|You can request to set the status of an anime for a group to "dropped", but not any of the other states - they are all automatic.
''[[Groupentries:Status|further information]]''

If you want to set a group's status to dropped, use the [http://www.anidb.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=3 DB Change Requests forum] and specifically the thread: [http://www.anidb.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4024 <nowiki>[Status][Dropped] releases by groups</nowiki>].
To add the AniDB Search function to Opera, the "search.ini" has to be modified.

===The automatic way===
You can use [http://starzaki.eu.org/~hclan/operapl/en/ Opera Search.ini Editor] to do this - AniDB and Animeinfo are already defined.

Once done you can search AniDB via the search field on the top right of every tab. Use the drop-down arrow to select the AniDB Search, the default search is Google. You can also choose AniDB to be the default search depending on what you changed in the search.ini or OperaSearch.ini Editor.

===The manual way===
Add the following code to your "search.ini".

The file located in the Opera profile directory OR in your Opera program directory, depending on what you chose during installation (multiple users / single user) - the profile directory is within the application data directory on you Windows installation drive, it's called "Documents and Settings" or "Dokumente und Einstellungen" in German or whatever depending on your OS language.

You should know where you installed Opera yourself so don't ask me where the Opera directory is.

If you cannot find your search.ini it simply use the windows search function for "search.ini" which will be located within an Opera directory. That should be it.

Add the following code:
NaodW29-pre7e4ffcc47a3c9cd800000004
Note that you might have to change the key and the number according to your other entries in that file.
Works with: Internet Explorer 5.5 and up, for Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP/2003

===The automatic way:===
Download the .reg file containing the code directly [http://rowaasr13.nm.ru/ie-search-anidb.reg here]

When you open the file, the needed code will be added to your windows registry.

You can now search AniDB via the adress bar (where you usually put URLs like http://www.anidb.net ) with the "anidb" prefix.

Example:
NaodW29-pre7e4ffcc47a3c9cd800000001

===The manual way===
The .reg file imports the code below into your Windows Registry - the code you get in rowaars13's file is the same. Use the manual way if his reg file is not available anymore.

Open Notepad and enter the following text:

NaodW29-pre7e4ffcc47a3c9cd800000002
Save the file as "import.reg" (or whatever you like, as long as you name it .reg) - to do so you have to choose "All Files" in the "File Type" drop down box (the line under the one where you put the name of the file).

Make sure you save it somewhere you can find it later - for examle on your desktop or under "My Files".

Locate the file and double click on it. Select "Yes" in the next window.

{{update}}
If there is another anime which should be watched before or after watching a certain one, you should add it using this sequel/prequel feature. This helps people who want to watch the anime stages in the correct order.

On the top of the page you see the sequels/prequels for this anime. Specify the anime you want to add as sequel/prequel by anime title, synonym title or short title. Select the watching order (i.e. is the anime you entered a sequel (has to be watched after) or a prequel (has to be watched before)). Now you have to select whether you want AniDB to automatically add the current anime to the anime you just entered as sequel/prequel too. Or if for some reason you want to do it manually. If unsure always let this checked, which is the default.

If the anime entry is not yours (you haven't created it) you can't remove relations. Please use the [http://www.anidb.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=3 DB Change Request forum] in that case.
